Building from the ground up...again

Greetings from the Adirondack tundra! Well, maybe not so tundra today being in the single digits, but we are in the throes of a two day storm. It's a great day to create which leads me to the topic of this post.
I used to have a Wordpress blog but hadn't been consistent with it and my blog is no more. Life happened and I found myself writing less, on my blog anyway. I still journal almost on the daily. I started that blog about ten years ago and a lot of memories were on that blog. I had always thought about getting my own domain because I would get distracted by the hubbub of the Wordpress blogs out there. I didn't want to pay and then not commit to it.
A few weeks ago, I came across a video on Ted Talk  from an artist that I have never heard of, Amie McNee. I'll be honest, the caption on the thumbnail caught my attention!

Aime got me to thinking of my blog posts of the past and that I should start blogging again. I decided last week to take the plunge and buy my own domain (Thank you Squarespace, not sponsored!) and then spent four days trying to figure out how to actually USE my domain. I didn't want to have to pay a monthly charge for a web host on top of yearly domain fee so I went with Google Blogger to set my domain up since it's free to use. Why pay for something that I can do for free?
I have sometimes been "selfish" with my art and keeping it to myself. I often think that my art is crap, I'm not a professional. Lately though, even before seeing Aime's Ted Talk, I have been being more creative and experimenting with different mediums that I am not comfortable with.  She inspired me to open up and share my art more even if I think it's crap, someone else might like it. It's the process and enjoyment of making the art that matters. I have been creating art with mediums that I never liked (water color mostly) but I find the more I study and learn, the more I like the art.
Now that I have paid money, or should I say, invested money in myself, I am locked in to my commitment blog now! It would be a waste of money to pay for a domain and not use it, so here I am, starting from the ground up on my blog. Fresh new blog with fresh new ideas. The great thing about it is now when I sign in to blog into my own domain, I am not distracted by so many other blogs and can concentrate on my own and actually get some writing done without being influenced.
Now...I just need content ideas! 😁 Yes Mommy, I will write more about nature when I can take my camera out and not have it freeze! I am looking forward to spring just for the photo ops, now that I broke out my old Nikon D40 that I can use again!
Again I ask you my new followers, to bear with my site being under construction. I plan to design it better as I go along. I am new to this (again) . Feel free to comment below, what is your favorite creative outlet?
And...go create some art and share it, even if you think it's crappy. You never know who will smile and have a bit of a brighter day looking at it.
