Pet Company

Image
Happy Monday to you all! I hope you all had a great weekend. We got to pet sit for the weekend for nine year old dog, Lola and an 18 year old cat named Bubba.       Both animals were so sweet and hospitable to us for our stay with them.   We love to pet sit and have been doing so for several years now. Sometimes we go pet sit at the pet's home and sometimes we will board a dog at our place, much to Minnie's dismay. She is tolerable of the dogs we board as long as they don't bother her or touch her food!

Dreams of Spring

Image
I sit down at my tablet, staring at a blank screen wondering what to write. It's Monday and a blog post is due. Not due for anyone else, but due for my commitment to keep up with my blog and actually post. I got nothing...but then I get to thinking that thoughts of spring are on my mind. I like winter and all but I love the colors of spring and summer. After all, I do work at at the best garden center around in my area, going on my third year now. My green thumb and trigger finger (for photos) are itchy!     In the meantime, I have been doing a lot of doodling in my sketchbooks and on random pieces of paper that are strewn everywhere in my creative corner. I know that once the weather is nicer and I get back to work, I will be having a lot less drawing time and will be working on my photography more since the nice seasons are where the photo ops are at.     Speaking of working, allow me to tell the story of my current job. Back in the ...

Happy 6th Gotcha Day Minnie!

Image
PICTURE THIS: It was February 12th, 2020, right before the whole COVID pandemic happened. I was walking home from the store with a friend of mine when a friend of hers pulled up alongside of us in her truck. The woman in the truck asked my friend if she knew anyone that wanted a cat, as she was moving and couldn't take her cat with her on account of allergires from someone in the home she was moving to. My friend said no and out of curiosity, I asked to see a picture. The woman in her truck pulled up a picture of her cat and leaned over towards the passenger side window to show me. Immendiatley I though, "wow, she is so photogenic and beatiful." My family had been without a cat for five years and my interest was piqued. I had to consort with my family first, though. I took two steps to start walking home and then stopped to ask if I could meet the cat. I got in her truck and we drove to her apartment. When we walked in she said, "Well, there's Minnie!...

The Joys of Parental Embarassment 😂

Image
Part of the joy of being a parent is getting to embarrass our children and I am no exception, especially with my youngest, my 12 year old who is the last birdie in the nest. I am 53 years old, 41 years older than her and always seem to embarrass her even when I’m not trying to. I’m a plant lover and apparently it's embarrassing to randomly stop on a walk and ask a gardener that you don't know for a clipping or ask what plants they have. I love all things glitter and glow (in the dark) and it seems to be embarrassing to be in a toy store and exclaim, “I bet that glows in the dark!" (I’m usually correct about that.) I’m also a rock lover and the embarrassment of getting caught hugging one of my neighbor’s labradorite boulders that was shimming beautiful blue hues after a rain was entirely mine. Last week at my daughter’s second appointment with her new dentist, I got her with a double whammy within a minute's time. The lady checking us in had a cute little di...

Groundhog's Day 2026

Image
It is Groundhog's Day, February 2nd as I sit down at my desk with a nice warm coffee on this -16 degree morning. No matter what Punxsutawney Phil has to say about it, I live in the Adirondacks and we have winter up here sometimes until April. It is a great day to create and that is exactly what I plan to do on this chilly day!          Chilly days being stuck inside in the winter don't really bother me. I always see it as an opportunity to create something and make productive use of my time that would otherwise be spent outside when it it more agreeable weather.          Over the course of this winter so far, I have been studying water color, which used to be one of my art nemesis. I have been wanting to come out of my creative comfort zone and learn something new far as art goes. I think part of the problem that I didn't like water color was, I never had proper paper. See, the thing with wat...
