Dreams of Spring

I sit down at my tablet, staring at a blank screen wondering what to write. It's Monday and a blog post is due. Not due for anyone else, but due for my commitment to keep up with my blog and actually post. I got nothing...but then I get to thinking that thoughts of spring are on my mind. I like winter and all but I love the colors of spring and summer. After all, I do work at at the best garden center around in my area, going on my third year now. My green thumb and trigger finger (for photos) are itchy!
In the meantime, I have been doing a lot of doodling in my sketchbooks and on random pieces of paper that are strewn everywhere in my creative corner. I know that once the weather is nicer and I get back to work, I will be having a lot less drawing time and will be working on my photography more since the nice seasons are where the photo ops are at.
Speaking of working, allow me to tell the story of my current job. Back in the spring of 2024, a friend of mine had shared a post from Willy-Nilly Gardening that they were looking for help. In the post, the owner, Shelly, had said "Stop in if it's you I'm looking for!"
I thought, "hmm, I love plants and I would love to learn more about them!" so I stopped by to check it out. Shelly was carrying a plant and I looked at her and in my best Lionel Ritchie voice I sang, "HELLO! It's ME you're looking for!" The rest is history.
I have learned so much in the past couple years about plants. I knew NOTHING about anything that wasn't succulents before I started working in the greenhouses and I have learned so much in the past few years and the photo ops, wow! To hear the comments from customers that are wowed by all of the beautiful plants makes it all so worth it, even if I do always joke that it's "hotter than Hades". If you know me, you know.
I have a job that I love and I try to be a good example of that to my kids, especially my youngest who still lives with me. I always tell her  that when she gets old enough to work, to get a job that she loves and likes to go to. I think that is important to not waste your time at a job that you are not going to like. Life is too short to be giving your time away to a place that you don't want to be at.
On that note, I close this post of dreams of pretty plants and warmer days when I can take my good camera out and get some great nature pics. If you too are missing spring and want to look at some pretty pics, check out the pics of Willy-Nilly on Google maps in the link here and enjoy!
