Happy 6th Gotcha Day Minnie!

PICTURE THIS: It was February 12th, 2020, right before the whole COVID pandemic happened. I was walking home from the store with a friend of mine when a friend of hers pulled up alongside of us in her truck. The woman in the truck asked my friend if she knew anyone that wanted a cat, as she was moving and couldn't take her cat with her on account of allergires from someone in the home she was moving to. My friend said no and out of curiosity, I asked to see a picture.

The woman in her truck pulled up a picture of her cat and leaned over towards the passenger side window to show me. Immendiatley I though, "wow, she is so photogenic and beatiful." My family had been without a cat for five years and my interest was piqued. I had to consort with my family first, though. I took two steps to start walking home and then stopped to ask if I could meet the cat.

I got in her truck and we drove to her apartment. When we walked in she said, "Well, there's Minnie!" I scooped Minnie right up into my arms and exclaimed, "SOLD!" without hesitation. She brought me and Minnie home, without me even conferring with my family.

My youngest daughter who was seven at the time was hanging out downstairs at her friends' apartment. I knocked at the door with Minnie in my arms and when my daughter saw her she was over the moon with excitement, squeeling with glee! We were told that it might take Minnie a couple days to adjust to us and that she may hide, but she fit right in and was hanging out with all of us and the kids from downstairs within about twenty minutes.

Minnie has been such a comfort and blessing to us for the past six years. She is such a hunter, bringing us "treats" whenever she can. I could write a whole nother blog about that with graphic pics included but I would probably get censored. When I say she is a savage little murder mistress, I kid you not! We live on the third floor and leave the kitchen window open for Minnie to go out on the roof for fresh air. We had to stop letting her outside because she was bringing us a present every single time she went out, sometimes within a matter of ten minutes (just asked the chipmunk that had been talking smack at her from the tree next to us one day!) She has brought us a bat, a bird and a squirrel from outside on the roof, not to mention the many mice that have dared to cross her inside path over the years!

Minnie is always down for a snuggle in the warm sunlight. She is also a very loquacious kitty, always talking to us. Fun fact: cats have about 150 vocalizations that they use only to talk to humans! Forget ever going potty in peace, at least I can't around here, others seem to keep their privacy! 😹 Minnie is also very fond of her treats and catnip.

Minnie is our ride or die kitty and we are so thankful to have her in our lives! Here's a clip for you to enjoy and relax with for a minute.
